THE HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIAL SPORT PROJECTS: REFLECTIONS ON BRAZILIAN POLITICAL, SOCIAL, AND EDUCATIONAL TRANSFORMATIONS (1970-1990)

Sports social projects in Brazil emerged from the political, social and educational transformations, resulting in a product of dispute in the political field crossing the areas of education and social assistance. But as a space with its own logic, social sport had several agents and institutions that maintained their willingness and interest in “game”. In this context, the objective was to carry out a historical rescue to analyze how the development process of social sports projects took place in Brazil and which were the internal structural movements responsible for their consolidation. We opted for a bibliographic research and for the analysis we used as a foundation the “Theory of Fields” by Pierre Bourdieu. In short, the consolidation of social sport occurred based on social changes driven by the articulations of different agents and institutions that identified possibilities to meet social demands, also serving as mechanisms for maintaining power.
