Resumo: The objective of this work is to analyze, through the theoretical-methodological tool designed by Pierre Bourdieu, the process of seeking social ascension by Madame X, a Brazilian who, after achieving economic success, aims to be accepted in the select group of São Paulo elites, especially the traditional “four-centone families”, finding barriers in this venture that go beyond what their money can buy.
