This article focuses on obstetric violence and the invisibility of women's rights. Obstetric violence against women has been increasing every year in Brazil, even though laws have been regulated to protect women and punish their perpetrators more severely, these alarming rates have not decreased. The overall objective of this work is to address the consequences of obstetric violence for the victim and the Brazilian legal system. The specific objectives were to discuss violence against women and human dignity; to define obstetric violence and gender-based violence; and to examine the need for legal protection to regulate obstetric violence. This research could be understood as an inductive method, moving from general topics to the specific issue, using procedures of bibliographic and documentary review. Ultimately, this article strongly calls for substantial changes. The eradication of obstetric violence and full visibility of women's rights during maternity are not just moral aspirations, but imperatives for a society striving for equality and justice. Through continuous engagement, awareness, and legal reform, it is possible to dismantle the foundations of this form of violence, bestowing upon women the dignity and respect that are inherently theirs.
