UMA ABORDAGEM CULTURAL DE ENSINO EM ASTRONOMIA: Análise da integração entre CTS e Astronomia Cultural

In this research, we qualitatively analyzed the evidence of effectiveness of an introductory astronomy course in a science museum, a non-formal education space, in which we used as theoretical references the integration between cultural astronomy and science education with a focus on Science, Technology and Society (STS), seeking a dialogical pedagogical approach with practical elements for teaching astronomical concepts. The approach with an emphasis on STS was used in order to reflect and discuss the static and scientistic way that science is generally presented in teaching. However, STS alone is not enough when we come to discuss issues related to colonialism. By approaching knowledge generally marginalized by hegemonic knowledge, we seek in Cultural Astronomy the discussion of the ethnic-racial relations necessary in the teaching of Astronomy. For data collection, we used an initial and final questionnaire, answered virtually through the Google Forms platform, and a logbook. The methodology used for data analysis was Bardin's content analysis, using the theme as the unit of register. We conclude that the union between STS and Cultural Astronomy can promote not only the learning of scientific concepts, but also the opposition to scientism, culminating in a constructivist and anthropological view of science, in addition to the recognition of Brazilian cultural and social knowledge as valid and important, as well as the creation of a group identity among participants.
