Resumo: Objective: To assess the knowledge of health sciences graduates from the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul regarding breastfeeding. Methods: A cross-sectional, quantitative, and descriptive study; data were collected through an electronic form from June to September 2023; analyses were performed using absolute and relative frequency, and the chi-square test for proportion comparison with a significance level of 0.05. Results: The percentage of correct answers about breastfeeding was 69.4%; the overall knowledge average about NBCAL was 49.4%; 25% believe that the knowledge acquired in undergraduate studies is sufficient, and 71.9% do not feel adequately equipped to provide guidance. Conclusion: Students demonstrated knowledge below expectations regarding breastfeeding and NBCAL; participants feel insecure about their knowledge, suggesting the need for expansion and deepening of breastfeeding education in health science courses at UFMS.

Métodos: Estudo transversal, quantitativo e descritivo; dados foram coletados através de formulário eletrônico, de junho a setembro de 2023; as análises foram realizadas através de frequência absoluta e relativa, e o teste do qui quadrado para comparação de proporções com nível de significância de 0,05 Resultados: o percentual de acertos sobre amamentação foi de 69,4%; a média geral de conhecimentos sobre a NBCAL foi de 49,4%; 25% acredita que o conhecimento adquirido na graduação é suficiente e 71,9% não se sentem capacitados para orientar.
