Resumo: | Introduction: Plastic surgeries have been increasingly common in the modern world. However, the permanence of its success requires specific and qualified care in the postoperative period. An alternative to optimize the recovery process during this period has been the use of taping. Thus, the present study aimed to identify how the use of taping has been treated in the postoperative period of plastic surgery, as well as its effects in this process. Method: Electronic searches were performed without restriction of language or year of publication in Medline databases via Pubmed, Embase, CINAHL, LILACS, PEDro, and SPORTDiscus on March 20, 2023. The keywords “plastic surgery” and “taping” and search strategies were adapted for each database. Clinical trials and case studies were included with women in the postoperative period with pain symptoms and taping as an intervention method. Data extraction was performed by two independent evaluators using the Endnote X8 software. Results: Of the 590 articles found, 47 were considered eligible for full reading and 6 were included for analysis. Among the results achieved with the use of this resource, reduction of edema, pain, ecchymosis, and shorter post-surgical recovery time were mentioned. Conclusions: Taping was associated with a beneficial effect on pain compared with no treatment. However, the low methodological quality of the studies and the sample limitation are limiting factors. Therefore, it is recommended that more research should be carried out, with controlled and randomized clinical trials, investigating the acute effect of taping after plastic surgery so that there are strong and consistent results. Keywords: Plastic surgery; Pain; Edema; Fibrosis; Athletic Tape; Post-Operative Period. |

Keywords: Plastic surgery; Pain; Edema; Fibrosis; Athletic Tape; Post-Operative Period.
