Resumo: The objective of this study was to evaluate a symbiotic additive containing amino acids and a probiotic, regarding the mean weight of the piglet and the average daily weight gain of the litter during the lactation phase. It’s used 75 sows commercial gem line in different orders of parturition and 851 new-born piglets with mean weight of ± 1,329 kg. The experimental design was in blocks, being controlled the orders of parturition and divided in 5 treatments and 15 repetitions, being each repetition composed by a sow and its respective litter. The treatments were divided as follows: (T1) Control treatment, there was no probiotic or symbiotic administration; (T2) Oral administration of 2 mL of liquid probiotic in the 1st and 3rd days of the piglets; (T3) Oral administration of 2 mL of liquid probiotic in the 1st, 3rd, 7th and 14th days of the piglets; (T4) Oral administration of 2mL of the symbiotic liquid in the 1st and 3rd days of the piglets; (T5) Oral administration of 2mL of the symbiotic liquid in the 1st, 3rd, 7th and 14th days of the piglets. In order to collect the data, the litter were weighed in the 1st, 7th, 14th and 21st days of the piglets to analyze the average piglet weight gain and mean piglet weight the following periods: 1 - from 0 (birth) to 7 days of age, 2 - from 0 (birth) to 14 days of age and 3 - from 0 (birth) to 21 days of age (weaning). Piglet it was heavy on the day of death and discounted from the litter weight through the correction factor. Piglets that were supplemented with 2 mL of symbiotic liquid at the 1st and 3rd days of age (T4) had higher mean weight (P =0,0194) and daily weight gain when (P =0,0237) compared to the other treatments. In the periods 2 and 3, there were no differences (P> 0.05) in the analyzed variables.
