Resumo: | The aim of this study was to evaluate blood parameters of laying Japanese quail fed with different levels of glutamine and raised in different thermal environments. There were used 210 Japanese quails with 49 days of age (Coturnix coturnix japonica), being distributed between three levels of glutamine (0.0, 1.5 and 3.0%), two setting temperatures (thermoneutral and heat stress), five replicates of 7 birds and four periods of production of 28 days (78, 106, 134 and 162 days of age). There were selected 30 birds, one bird per replication with average weight of 153.37 ± 13.09g for blood sampling. It was held total leukocytes count and heterophil:lymphocyte correlation (H:L). Significant difference was observed for total leukocytes between production periods, with higher value only for the fourth study period (79.93 ± 51.95 (x103 ) leukocytes/ mm3) compared to other periods that did not differ (47.60 ± 24.28; 31.66 ± 15.24; 35.23 ± 18.13 (x10³) leukocytes/mm3 , respectively). For the ratio H:L, there was a significant interaction between periods and temperature, in which the values were higher in the third period for birds reared in thermoneutral (2.66 ± 0.18) compared to thermal stress (2.51 ± 0.1). When the birds were raised under thermal stress, the averages were higher for the second, third and fourth periods (2.60 ± 0.18, 2.51 ± 0.10 and 2.55 ± 0.11, respectively) compared to the first period (2.40 ± 0.07). Comparing the two setting temperatures, the differences were for the birds in the second period of production, with the lowest ratios of H:L were observed for birds reared in thermoneutral (2.38 ± 0.06) compared to thermal stress (2.60 ± 0.18). Regarding the glutamine levels, there was no influence in the evaluated parameters. Based on the results, it is concluded that blood parameters were not influenced by the addition of dietary glutamine, however, different temperatures and periods of production can affect the blood parameters. |
