Assim, a brevidade da vida corpórea compreende toda a existência do ser haja vista que corpo e alma se decompõem com a morte. Desse modo, o lapso temporal entre a vida e a morte deve ser um instante de felicidade e, para que esse estado se concretize, cabe ao homem viver com prudência, de modo belo e justo. Epicuro preconiza ainda que é preciso afastar o sofrimento e viver uma experiência calcada no prazer. Quiçá as concepções e condutas capazes de gerar a felicidade ao tempo e segundo a proposta filosófica de Epicuro atendam as expectativas do homem no século XXI. A despeito das dores e dos sofrimentos modernos, parece que a felicidade ainda pode ser construída de modo prudente, com beleza e justiça.
