This paper investigates the effectiveness of centralization of policing in the city of Cuiabá-MT, in relation to crime, violence and its prevention, guided managers in decision making. For that, methodologically, it analyzes the theories that determine crime, the administration, the management of the policing methods and specifically, the concepts of centralization, decentralization and efficiency. For the study, we compare the degree of efficiency of establishment of police investigations of police stations Cuiabá, in the two years prior to the centralization of policing, two years after this centralization, taking as basis the centralization of policing crimes of robbery in the capital of Mato Grosso, between the years 2010 to 2013. It uses statistical data, opinions and formulas to measure the productivity and effectiveness of centralization. Whether results from this measurement, the effectiveness of centralization is lower compared with the previous to this period, and in tandem with the theories of crime, administrative and management, it is concluded that the decentralization of policing, approaching neighborhoods and using traditional methods, strategic policing, problem -oriented, community focused and the results are more effective.
