This work seeks to establish the association of alcohol and drugs to domestic violence. Violence against women is any act or omission based on gender that causes her death, injury, physical, sexual or psychological and moral suffering or property damage. Alcohol and drugs acting on the user's mind as disinhibiting behavior and their continued use is associated with decreased control over impulses and the increased occurrence of persecutory feelings. 50 interviews were conducted in women victims of domestic violence were referred to the 2nd Police District Carumbé in the city of Cuiabá. Socioeconomic data from the victim and the perpetrator in order to compare with other studies in Brazil were collected profile. In 60% percent of the cases surveyed the offender was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of violence against women.
