Urinary tract infection (UTI) corresponds to the invasion and proliferation of infectious microorganisms in some part of the urinary system, such as the kidneys, bladder and urethra. The disease affects both men and women, however women are more affected due to menstrual cycles, sexual activities, pregnancy and its anatomical characteristics. The diagnosis of UTI is based on the uroculture test as standard, but the Type 1 Urine Test can also be used as a screening for infection, as it is a low-cost test and quick to perform. This study aimed to analyze the results of type 1 urine tests suggestive of urinary tract infection performed at the municipal laboratory in Barra do Garças-MT. A retrospective and descriptive study was carried out by collecting data from the laboratory. Data were using the Epi info software. Of the 595 results of type 1 urine tests, it was possible to observe that the physical analysis of color, odor and appearance was mostly not different. In the chemical aspect, the most predominant alteration in leukocyte esterase and in the analysis of the sediment as epithelial cells, leukocytes and bacterial flora were the most predominant. Taking into account aspects suggestive of UTI, 3.5% positive nitrite dissipation, 15.1% leukocyte esterase. On microscopy 25.55% dissipated > 8 leukocytes per field and 11.76% increased bacterial flora. Leukocytes, nitrite, and bacterial flora when imposed together are good parameters for diagnosing UTI in type 1 urine testing. When type 1 urine testing is used as a routine UTI screening strategy, any changes in the test need to be investigated by urine culture for the presence of the microorganism.
