Resumo: The present work aims to understand the banquet of what love is for Plato, because in the work, it has different meanings. In the Platonic dialectic, we observe that Plato organizes a confrontation of several praises attributed to Eros, Phaedrus, Pausanias, Eryximachus, Aristophanes, Agathon and Socrates, uttered with the aim of extolling and defining the true essence of Eros. In the Symposium, Plato brings together a wide variety of resources and literary styles, revealing the different faces and speeches of love. The Platonic conception of love in the Symposium begins with the moderation of sober speeches to end in the savagery of love/passion of Alcibiades. Alcibiades' drunken speech does not accept the invitation to the Socratic-Platonic conversion of eroticism into Philia. One of Plato's most beautiful dialogues, the Phaedrus takes up the theme of love and contains two epilogues for love affairs between men. It is concluded that the discourse of love for Plato appears as an initiation to the good, something that transcends corporeal matter and encourages human beings to develop spiritually to reach fullness.

Na dialética platônica observamos que Platão organiza um confronto de diversos elogios atribuídos a Eros, Fedro, Pausânias, Erixímaco, Aristófanes, Agáton e Sócrates, proferem seus discursos com o feito de enaltecer e definir a verdadeira essência de Eros. No Banquete, Platão reúne grande variedade de recursos e estilos literários revelando as diversas faces e falas do amor. A concepção platônica do amor no Banquete começa com a moderação dos discursos sóbrios para encerrar na selvageria do amor/paixão de Alcebíades. O discurso ébrio de Alcebíades não aceita o convite à conversão socrático-platônica do erotismo na Philia. Um dos mais belos diálogos de Platão, o Fedro retoma o tema do amor e contém dois epílogos para as peripécias amorosas entre os homens.
