This study aimed to analyze the supervised training of the Graduate in Public Health, held in 2014-15, from the perspective of teaching and service to its importance in the formation of professional bachelor's degree in Public Health from an institution of higher education. The subjects were eleven, six students who passed the stage of the 7th semester of the period 2014/2 and 2015/1; two teachers / mentors stage and three managers of the units where the internship takes place. All teachers and managers agreed to participate voluntarily in the study and the students and graduates were selected to present interest in participating when asked by the researcher. The study scenario is the Stage field itself, which occurs in three Basic Units of the Family Health Strategy, located in the neighborhood Santa Isabel, Cuiabá MT. The instrument was a self-administered questionnaire with closed and open questions. For analysis of the results was used descriptive statistics, frequency and thematic analysis of Bardin (1997) creating categories for discussion. Among the results on the importance of supervised internship in professional training was obtained unanimity that this is very important for the interaction between theory and practice, it is through the first contact and experience with the reality that the trainee has opportunity to add the value of experience, seeking to achieve the best development of its duties and responsibilities after graduation. It also drew the attention of the need to start the stage as soon as possible graduation. This study provides a set of evidence pointing to the long way to go towards the consolidation of the course and recognition of the new professional. Many challenges are placed, many questions are on the agenda of the coordinators, students, teachers and tutors. Believing that this is an irreversible process, it is expected that this research will contribute not only to deepen the knowledge of development initiatives, but also to enhance the debate around them, considering their complexity. Finally, we consider the experiences lived during the valuable stage in the academic aspects, professional and personal. We hope that further studies are conducted in order to contribute to the evaluation and monitoring of the development stage in the Course as well as the implication of the territory and population health.
