The dropout of higher education at a distance is a phenomenon that is expanding so that it is increasingly necessary to know the causes that lead to its occurrence. Especially since this has greater relevance to managers, and they are responsible for making decisions that directly impact the results of any organization. In view of this, the present work aims to conceptualize the view of managers and about dropout, having as other goals investigation of dropout at Anhanguera University; Survey of strategies to reduce dropout and the causes attributed to this phenomenon. For this, a case study was conducted at Anhanguera UNIDERP University, using the qualitative research method, through semi-structured interviews and observation. Through the analysis of the data reported in the interviews, the categorization was performed, in which six categories were obtained, namely: dropout rates, follow-up of the dropout percentage in the institution, causes of dropout, strategies used for dropout, space and competition as a cause of circumvention. From the view of managers about this phenomenon within the institution and how they react to such an event, we have the starting point that is the knowledge of the causes of dropout, so that it helps them trace strategies in the attempt to retain of evasion.
