Associação entre o perfil sociodemográfico e estado nutricional de indivíduos admitidos em um hospital universitário de Cuiabá-MT

Malnutrition is characterized as a deficient macronutrient and micronutrient syndrome due to the reduction of food intake or fasting, when malnutrition is related to malnutrition is an important public health problem. OBJECTIVE: To associate the sociodemographic and nutritional profile of individuals admitted to a university hospital in Cuiabá, MT. METHODOLOGY: This is a prospective cross-sectional study, carried out in adults and elderly people who admitted to the medical and surgical clinics of a University Hospital. The data collection was done through a questionnaire applied within forty-eight hours after the patient's hospitalization. Sociodemographic and anthropometric data were collected. To evaluate the nutritional status, we used the Body Mass Index - BMI, the Nutritional Risk Screening - NRS and the Global Subjective Assessment - ASG. For all statistical tests performed, the level of significance was set at p <0.05. RESULTS: The study had a sample of 30 individuals, 22 of the surgical clinic and 8 of the medical clinic. In the surgical clinic, 86.4% of the participants did not present a risk of developing malnutrition (NRS <3), with 42.1% of the adults being overweight and 66.7% of the elderly being eutrophic. In the medical clinic, 50% of the individuals presented a risk of developing malnutrition (NRS> 3), 40% of the adults presented grade I obesity and 66.7% of the overweight elderly. No significant statistical difference could be found when associating nutritional status with sociodemographic data in the medical and surgical clinic. CONCLUSION: The nutritional status with sociodemographic data is not related in the individuals evaluated in the present study.
