EFEITO DA ÁREA E PRODUTIVIDADE NA PRODUÇÃO DE ERVA-MATE NO BRASIL

A presente pesquisa teve o objetivo de avaliar a taxa de crescimento da produção de folha seca de erva-mate no Brasil, em relação ao efeito sobre a área e sobre a produtividade. Para isso foi usado o modelo shift-share com o qual se verificou qual dessas duas variáveis mais contribuiu para a evolução da produção de erva-mate no país e nos estados do Paraná (PR), Santa Catarina (SC) e Rio Grande do Sul (RS) e em todo território nacional nos últimos anos no período de 1990 à 2015, estes dados foram obtidos através da base de dados do sistema SIDRA (Sistema IBGE de Recuperação Automática) do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE, 2016). Considerando os resultados obtidos, foi observado que neste período o estado do Rio Grande do Sul representa o maior percentual de produção de folha seca de erva-mate no Brasil e o principal fator que explicou o crescimento da produção de erva-mate foi o efeito área produtiva.Palavra-chave: produtos florestais não madeireiros, colheita de erva-mate, economia florestal. EFFECT OF AREA AND PRODUCTIVITY IN THE PRODUCTION OF YERBA MATE IN BRAZIL ABSTRACT:The present work aimed to study the technological evolution of the production of dry leaf yerba mate, in relation to the effect on the area and on productivity. For this we used the shift-share model with which we found that these two variables contributed most to the progress in the production of yerba mate in the country and in the states of Paraná (PR), Santa Catarina (SC) and Rio Grande do Sul (RS) in recent years in the period 1990 through 2015, These data are obtained through the database of the SIDRA system (IBGE Automatic Recovery System) of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE, 2016). Considering these results, it was observed that during this period the main factor that explained the increased production of yerba mate was the area effect, showing the need for technological advances such as fertilization, liming and cultivation for the species.Keywords: non timber forest products, harvesting erva-mate, forest economic.
