MATHEMATICAL MODELLING AND INITIAL TRAINING: CONTRIBUTIONS OF A TRAINING COURSE

Resumo: The present work aimed to identify the possible contributions of the course "Teacher Training: for an Anti-Racist Mathematical Education", in the conception on Mathematical Modeling of teachers and future mathematics teachers. The training course was part of the project "Ethnomathematics, Mathematical Modeling and Teacher Training: possibilities of implementation of Law 10.639/03 in Mathematics Teaching" and was elaborated by the members of the Research Center in Mathematics Education (NUPEm/UFU). During the training course, an environment focused on discussions related to a Mathematics Education oriented to racial issues was opportunistic in order to contribute to the training of teachers and future mathematics teachers. Thus, this work is the result of a qualitative research, in which an analysis was performed based on the answers of two questionnaires answered by the participants of the course, in order to recognize the contributions of the training course in the conceptions on Mathematical Modeling of teachers and future mathematics teachers. Before the training course, some research subjects did not have in-depth knowledge about Mathematical Modeling, but after completion, it was possible to notice that the subjects had an understanding of what Mathematical Modeling is, although different conceptions were reported. Therefore, it is considered that the course contributed positively to the mathematical modeling conceptions of the participants.

Therefore, it is considered that the course contributed positively to the mathematical modeling conceptions of the participants.El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo identificar las posibles contribuciones del curso "Formación docente: para una Educación Matemática Antirracista", en la concepción sobre Modelización Matemática de docentes y futuros docentes de matemáticas. El curso de capacitación formó parte del proyecto "Etnomatemática, Modelación Matemática y Formación Docente: posibilidades de implementación de la Ley 10.639/03 en la Enseñanza de las Matemáticas" y fue elaborado por los miembros del Centro de Investigación en Educación Matemática (NUPEm/UFU). Durante el curso de capacitación, un ambiente centrado en discusiones relacionadas con una Educación Matemática orientada a temas raciales fue oportunista con el fin de contribuir a la formación de maestros y futuros maestros de matemáticas. Así, este trabajo es el resultado de una investigación cualitativa, en la que se realizó un análisis basado en las respuestas de dos cuestionarios contestados por los participantes del curso, con el fin de reconocer los aportes del curso de formación en las concepciones sobre Modelización Matemática de profesores y futuros profesores de matemáticas. Antes del curso de capacitación, algunos sujetos de investigación no tenían un conocimiento profundo sobre Modelado Matemático, pero después de la finalización, fue posible notar que los sujetos tenían una comprensión de lo que es el Modelado Matemático, aunque se informaron diferentes concepciones. Por lo tanto, se considera que el curso contribuyó positivamente a las concepciones de modelado matemático de los participantes.O presente trabalho visou identificar as possíveis contribuições do curso “Formação de Professores: por uma Educação Matemática Antirracista”, na concepção sobre Modelagem Matemática de professores e futuros professores de Matemática. O curso de formação fez parte do projeto “Etnomatemática, Modelagem Matemática e Formação de Professores: possibilidades de implementação da Lei 10.639/03 no Ensino de Matemática” e foi elaborado pelos membros do Núcleo de Pesquisa em Educação Matemática (NUPEm/UFU). Durante o curso de formação, foi oportunizado um ambiente voltado a discussões relacionadas a uma Educação Matemática orientada para questões raciais em busca de contribuir com a formação de professores e futuros professores de Matemática. Assim, este trabalho é fruto de uma pesquisa qualitativa, em que se executou uma análise baseada nas respostas de dois questionários respondidos pelos participantes do curso, a fim de reconhecer as contribuições do curso de formação nas concepções sobre Modelagem Matemática dos professores e futuros professores de Matemática. Antes do curso de formação, alguns sujeitos da pesquisa não tinham conhecimento aprofundado sobre a Modelagem Matemática, porém, após a finalização, foi possível notar que os sujeitos tinham compreensão do que é a Modelagem Matemática, apesar de terem sido relatadas diferentes concepções.
