SOLVING ARITHMETIC PROBLEMS IN THE DISPUTE BETWEEN CATHOLICS AND LIBERALS

Resumo: | This paper discusses the target of the Problems and goals of its resolution, in arithmetic teaching, in school practices from the 1930s to the 1940s, a period in which various groups of intellectuals debated the new directions to be proposed for education. We used the methodology based on the theoretical and methodological tools built by historians, especially by cultural historians, mainly considering the concepts of representation, practice and appropriation proposed by Roger Chartier and strategies and tactics, presented by Michel De Certeau. The results indicate a representation constructed mainly from the defenses of intellectuals linked to the movement known as "New School", of the characteristics of a Good Problem, that need to be real, useful and interesting to the student, which surpassed other proposals, in a scenario of dispute between competing groups by monopoly of the sign of the New. |

A metodologia utilizou-se do ferramental teórico-metodológico construído por historiadores, sobretudo, da história cultural, principalmente, os conceitos de representação, prática e apropriação propostos por Roger Chartier e estratégias e táticas, apresentados por Michel De Certeau.
