THE EXPERTISE OF TEACHER RUBENS DE CARVALHO IN THE CONTEXT OF THE PUBLIC EDUCATION IN MATO GROSSO (1923 – 1927)

Resumo: This research discusses the professional expertise of Rubens de Carvalho, a primary school teacher from São Paulo hired by the government of Mato Grosso to lead the Escola Normal de Cuiabá, in the mid-1920s. The theoretical-methodological foundation is the works by Hofstetter et al. (2017), Hofstetter and Schneuwly (2017), Hofstetter and Schneuwly (2020) and Hofstetter and Valente (2017), from a historical-social perspective, on teaching knowledge, due to the pedagogical mobilization promoted by teaching experts in providing the production and the mobilization of knowledge for primary education, specifically in this investigation of elementary mathematics for primary education. Thus, considering the referential contribution adopted, teacher Rubens de Carvalho can be considered an expert in teaching and elementary mathematics in the same instructional segment, because, as we analyzed, the State hired him to solve problems of instruction and, in doing so, the teacher produced knowledge that was systematized in minutes of reports, in the 1924 teaching program and in the 1927 teaching regulation.

El fundamento teórico-metodológico son los trabajos de Hofstetter et al. (2017), Hofstetter y Schneuwly (2017), Hofstetter y Schneuwly (2020) y Hofstetter y Valente (2017), desde una perspectiva histórico-social, sobre la enseñanza del saber, debido a la movilización pedagógica promovida por docentes expertos en brindar la producción y la movilización de saberes para la educación primaria, específicamente en esta investigación de matemática elemental para la educación primaria. Así, considerando la contribución referencial adoptada, el profesor Rubens de Carvalho puede ser considerado un experto en enseñanza y matemáticas elementales en el mismo segmento de instrucción, porque, como analizamos, el Estado lo contrató para resolver problemas de instrucción y, al hacerlo, el docente produjo un conocimiento que fue sistematizado en actas de informes, en el programa docente de 1924 y en el reglamento docente de 1927.Esta pesquisa discute a expertise profissional de Rubens de Carvalho, professor normalista paulista contratado pelo governo mato-grossense para conduzir a Escola Normal de Cuiabá, em meados da década de 1920.  A fundamentação teórico-metodológica foi baseada em Hofstetter et al., (2017), Hofstetter e Schneuwly (2017), Hofstetter e Schneuwly (2020) e Hofstetter e Valente (2017), em uma perspectiva histórico-social acerca dos saberes do ensino, em razão da mobilização pedagógica promovida pelos experts da docência em provimento da produção e da mobilização de saberes para a instrução primária, especificamente nesta investigação das matemáticas elementares para o ensino primário. As fontes mobilizadas para justificar a expertise profissional do personagem estão sobre os cuidados do Arquivo Público do Mato Grosso (APMT), além de outras que retrataram a trajetória do educador, que foram recuperadas pela Hemeroteca Digital Brasileira.
