THE MULTICULTURALISM AND THE TRAINING OF TEACHERS OF BIOLOGY

Resumo: | The debate about multiculturalism and cultural diversity has been intensified in recent decades. This debate cannot be excluded from the discussions about teachers’ formation needs, because schools are placed in a society and teachers will be faced with issues related to cultural diversity in educational spaces, especially in classrooms. Recent documents that guide teacher formation, such as the Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais para a formação de professores para a Educação Básica [National Curriculum Guidelines for the training of teachers of Basic Education], provide instructions that this topic be included in undergraduate courses in all areas. This article, of a bibliographic nature, aims to discuss about the insertion of multiculturalism in the curricula of Biology undergraduate courses. From the theoretical framework of Moreira (2002), Canen (2010), Silva (2000) and Hypólito and Moreira (2003), some possibilities for the insertion of multiculturalism in the teacher formation curricula of this subject are considered, such as identity awareness-raising dynamics; social related content; the need to rewrite knowledge from the perspective of different groups, in order to challenge the logic of knowledge construction that favors eurocentrism, a masculine and white point of view; and discussions about the pseudo neutrality of science. |

Tal debate não pode ficar à margem das discussões acerca das necessidades formativas dos professores, pois as escolas compõem a sociedade, e os professores irão se deparar com questões relativas à diversidade cultural nos espaços educacionais, principalmente nas salas de aula. Documentos recentes que norteiam a formação de professores, como as Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais para a formação de professores para a Educação Básica, trazem orientações para que essa temática seja contemplada nos cursos de licenciatura de todas as áreas. Este artigo, de natureza bibliográfica, tem como objetivo discutir a inserção do multiculturalismo em currículos de cursos de licenciatura de Ciências Biológicas.
