Resumo: | To verify the association between the use of dental services and oral health literacy (ASB) of pregnant women, as well as to create a booklet to inform pregnant women about taking care of their oral health and that of their baby, as a tool to support the pre-Natal, strengthening the ASB. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was carried out with pregnant women treated at public health services in the municipality of Santa Maria, southern Brazil. Interviews were carried out to collect data regarding the demographic, socioeconomic and behavioral characteristics of the sample. ASB was measured using the Brazilian version of the Rapid Estimate of Adult Literacy in Dentistry (BREALD-30). Adjusted Poisson regression analysis was performed to assess the association between predictor variables on BREALD-30 scores. Results are presented in Rate Ratio (RR) and a 95% confidence interval (95% CI). Next, for the construction of the booklet, a methodological study of technological production was carried out, based on five phases: recognition of the context; idealization; prototyping; usability testing and implementation, following the path of user-centered design, which focuses on the user and the solution of their real needs. The content is based on scientific evidence presented in a segmented manner by categories, facilitating access to the desired content and in accessible language. A graphic designer carried out the organization and illustrations. Results: A total of 256 pregnant women took part in the research, of which 58.5% had been to the dentist in the last year, and 49% had sought the public service. Regarding the type of coverage, 44.5% were Basic Health Units (UBS) and 55.5% were Family Health Strategy (ESF). Mean BREALD-30 scores were 22.7 (SD 5.3). Pregnant women who had not visited the dentist in the last year had BREALD-30 scores 7% lower than those who had attended (RR 0.93; 95% CI 0.88-0.99). The use of public health services was also associated with a lower ASB when compared to the use of the private service (RR 0.94; 95% CI 0.88-0.99). The type of coverage (UBS or ESF) used did not impact the BREALD-30 scores. As for the nature of the technical product created, according to Capes' technical production qualis, it is a didactic material in the booklet mode. As a target audience for the generated product, pregnant women were considered. It was developed with simple language, for easy understanding of the target audience, inviting pregnant women to a more informal conversation, but based on scientific information. There was a focus on its communicational and playful characteristics. In addition, it can also be used by health professionals to strengthen the information transmitted on the subject. It will be distributed on the public and private network in virtual and physical formats. Final considerations: The use of dental services influences the ASB of pregnant women, since those who did not go to the dentist in the last year and used the public health service had lower ASB. The development of this booklet can be another tool for information and education, helping to remove common misconceptions among pregnant women, myths, unnecessary fears and other obstacles, improving ASB. Product and its applicability: The booklet developed is a tool to support dental prenatal care, allowing pregnant women access to more knowledge, conditions to adopt preventive postures, and protect themselves and their unborn children from oral and systemic diseases, as it strengthens the ASB. |

Metodologia: Realizou-se um estudo transversal com gestantes atendidas nos serviços públicos de saúde do município de Santa Maria, sul do Brasil. Entrevistas foram realizadas para coletar dados referentes as características demográficas, socioeconômicas e comportamentais da amostra. A ASB foi aferida através da versão brasileira do Rapid Estimate of Adult Literacy in Dentistry (BREALD-30). Análise ajustada de regressão de Poisson foi realizada para avaliar a associação entre as variáveis preditoras nos escores do BREALD-30. Os resultados são apresentados em Rate Ratio (RR) e intervalo de confiança de 95% (IC 95%). A seguir, para a construção da cartilha, foi realizado estudo metodológico, de produção tecnológica, a partir de cinco fases: reconhecimento do contexto; idealização; prototipação; teste de usabilidade e implementação, seguindo o percurso do design centrado no usuário, que tem como foco o usuário e a solução de suas reais necessidades. O conteúdo tem embasamento em evidências científicas apresentadas de forma segmentada por categorias, facilitando o acesso ao conteúdo desejado e em linguagem acessível. Um designer gráfico realizou a organização e ilustrações. Resultados: Um total de 256 gestantes fizeram parte da pesquisa, destas 58,5% haviam ido no dentista no último ano, sendo que 49% haviam procurado o serviço público. Em relação ao tipo de cobertura, 44,5% era Unidade Básica de Saúde (UBS) e 55,5% Estratégia em Saúde da Família (ESF). Os escores médios do BREALD-30 foram de 22,7 (DP 5,3). Gestantes que não haviam frequentado o dentista no último ano, apresentaram escores do BREALD-30 7% menores que as que haviam frequentado (RR 0,93; 95% IC 0,88-0,99). O uso dos serviços de saúde pública, também, foi associado a uma ASB menor quando comparado a utilização do serviço privado (RR 0,94; 95% IC 0,88-0,99). O tipo de cobertura (UBS ou ESF) utilizado não impactou nos escores do BREALD-30. Quanto a natureza do produto técnico criado, conforme o qualis de produção técnica da Capes, trata-se de um material didático na modalidade cartilha. Ela foi desenvolvida com uma linguagem simples, para fácil compreensão da gestante, público alvo, convidando-as para uma conversa informal, porém baseada em informações científicas. Houve um primor por suas características comunicacionais e lúdicas. Além disso, também pode ser utilizada por profissionais da saúde, para fortalecer as informações transmitidas sobre a temática. Será distribuída na rede pública e privada nos formatos virtual e físico. Considerações finais: O uso dos serviços odontológicos influencia a ASB de gestantes, uma vez que as que não foram ao dentista no último ano e utilizaram o serviço de saúde pública tiveram menor ASB. O desenvolvimento desta cartilha, pode ser mais uma ferramenta para informação e educação, contribuindo para afastar equívocos comuns às mulheres grávidas, mitos, medos desnecessários e outros obstáculos, melhorando a ASB. The type of coverage (UBS or ESF) used did not impact the BREALD-30 scores. As for the nature of the technical product created, according to Capes' technical production qualis, it is a didactic material in the booklet mode. As a target audience for the generated product, pregnant women were considered. It was developed with simple language, for easy understanding of the target audience, inviting pregnant women to a more informal conversation, but based on scientific information. There was a focus on its communicational and playful characteristics. In addition, it can also be used by health professionals to strengthen the information transmitted on the subject. It will be distributed on the public and private network in virtual and physical formats. Final considerations: The use of dental services influences the ASB of pregnant women, since those who did not go to the dentist in the last year and used the public health service had lower ASB. The development of this booklet can be another tool for information and education, helping to remove common misconceptions among pregnant women, myths, unnecessary fears and other obstacles, improving ASB. Product and its applicability: The booklet developed is a tool to support dental prenatal care, allowing pregnant women access to more knowledge, conditions to adopt preventive postures, and protect themselves and their unborn children from oral and systemic diseases, as it strengthens the ASB. |
