Resumo: Introduction: This work is part of the Sustainable Development Objectives - Agenda 2030 of the United Nations (UN), more specifically in the Objectives: Build the resilience of people in vulnerable situations and reduce their exposure to extreme events related to climate and other economic, social and environmental shocks and disasters; and Ensuring environmental sustainability. Among the environmental problems, urban solid waste is currently highlighted, as its inadequate management affects both the environment and the healthy life of people, in particular, the health of workers directly involved in the processing of these materials. Objectives: Identify the risks to which women workers in an Association of Recyclable Materials are exposed; and Carry out educational activities with women from an Association of Recyclable Materials, with a view to promoting and protecting health. Methodology: This is an action research inserted in an expanded research project called “Social Entrepreneurship of Nursing in an Association of Recyclable Materials”. A priori, individual interviews were carried out with 15 workers of the aforementioned Association, located in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul, in order to identify the risks to which the workers are exposed and, subsequently, to promote educational interventions in the reality of the participants. The process of investigation and intervention in practice, even with the existence of the pandemic caused by Covid-19, was carried out between the months of January/2020 and April/2021. Results: It was evident, along the investigative path, that all workers are aware of the risks to which they are exposed and, in general, recognize how to prevent them in their daily practice. It was noted, however, that in this reality, in particular, information about the types of risks and the emphasis on the importance of personal protective equipment is not enough. It is necessary to consider, in this path, the permanent personal (re)organization of these workers, whose struggles are motivated by pain, loss, uncertainty, invisibility, but also by aspirations for better days. Final considerations: The risks to which workers in an Association of Recyclable Materials are exposed transcend spaces, resources and the linearity of working conditions. The notion of risk involves a complex apprehension and a permanent dialogue between nations of order and disorder, as well as between the object and subjects involved in this work path. In this process, the educational workshops were of fundamental importance for raising awareness and mobilizing the correct and effective use of personal protective equipment, more specifically, in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, in which workers were even more exposed to risks.

Submitted by MARCIA ROVADOSCHI (marciar@unifra.br) on 2021-10-15T18:57:30Z No. of bitstreams: 2 Dissertacao_ElvianiSantosStefano_SemAssinaturas.pdf: 760394 bytes, checksum: cdb4388ebcf35c0641eafd816090583a (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-10-15T18:57:30Z (GMT).
