“DOTANDO VIDAS”: TECNOLOGIA SOCIAL INDUTORA DE BOAS PRÁTICAS EM SAÚDE MATERNO-INFANTIL EM CONTEXTO VULNERÁVEL

The current dissertation research aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 agenda, in particular, with the Good Health and Well-Being goal, which aims to improve maternal health and reduce neonatal mortality. It also is integrated to the Ministry of Health Research Priorities Agenda: Priority 4 -Development of Technologies and Innovation in Health and Priority 14 – Maternal and Child Health. Taking into account the demand that arises from the community and the Alto da Boa Vista Family Health Strategy working team, it was developed a Social Technology named “Endowing Lives” serving as a fomenter of good practices in maternal and child health. Considering its vulnerabilities, this Social Technology proposes practices that concern the social actors, with a view to promote context changes through the broadened understanding on community health. For that matter, the objective of this research was to develop a Social Technology on Maternal and Child Health, focusing on the promotion of good practices on pregnancy-puerperium cycle of women from a socially vulnerable community of Santa Maria - Rio Grande do Sul, based on home visits and interprofessional operational groups. The research methodology was conducted through an action-research from August, 2022 to October, 2023, consisting with the participation of 17 mothers/women/pregnant women belonging to the area covered by the aforementioned community and content analysis.The results revealed a high vulnerability of the investigated group, as well as that the development of social technologies focused on the user is a strategy capable of increasing the diffusion of knowledge, empowering users and expanding health promotion, therefore, overcoming the technocratic approach on maternal-child health. Based on interprofessional healthcare teams, through the integration of nurses, physiotherapists, doctors and dentists, it was developed a singular and multidimensional path on maternal and child health care, triggering a higher adherence to prenatal appointments; expansion on the concept of health, life equality and improvement in self-care and self-esteem, demands that are suggested on the sociodemographic profile literature. In conclusion, the social technology “Endowing Lives” transcended specific, linear and assistencialist solutions to certain vulnerable groups of people. The process of induction of this social technology sought for, ultimately, stimulating the social protagonism through the valorization of ideas and the construction of autonomous knowledge, based on dialogue, active participation and joint search for knowledge and practices. Product and its applicability: Conducted by the action research, this Social Technology identified, discussed and implemented strategies and actions that aim to enhance sociocultural specificities on maternal-child health, focusing on women who integrate a vulnerable community and, therefore, to contribute to a reduction of maternal-child morbimortality.
