MANUAIS DE ETIQUETA E CIVILIDADE (1940 - 1970): ABORDAGEM HISTÓRICA NA FORMAÇÃO DE PROFESSORAS

Resumo: The productions and reflections of gender studies have gained space and legitimacy in the academic environment, but nowadays humanity has been experiencing times of “guesswork” and individualisms, in which the distortion of historical facts is perceived and a movement that seeks to weaken research in this field. In this background, it is emerging to discuss and reinforce the investigations related to the history of women with the purpose of rethinking the social structures, producing mechanisms to minimize the social disparities between genders. Therefore, the interest of this research starts from the need to (re) think about gender relations from the teacher training. In bringing these questions, we intend to understand the discourse that normalized, naturalized and determined the place of men and women in the educational space. This allows us to review relationships as a human being and subject. In this sense, the research has as general objective to analyze the manuals of etiquette and civility and its influence on teacher training: decades from 1940 to 1970. The theoretical reference is about the civilizing process and how the invisibility of women in historiography was established such as the normalization and training of conducts, feminine emancipation and the contributions of the feminist movement and, finally, feminization of the teaching profession. The methodology is characterized by being of a qualitative nature based on theoretical and documentary references and narrative analysis. The documentary corpus consisted of five manuals of etiquette and civility, and the narratives were six teachers from the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters - FIC, from 1953 to 1979. The narratives constituted “the teachers’ voice" and their analysis was made by means of the hermeneutic method that allowed relating the narratives with the social and historical contextualization and the interweaving with the manuals of etiquette and civility. From the narratives, it was verified that of the six interviewed only two had as objective to follow the teaching profession. In what is related to the contact with the manuals of etiquette and civility, it was noticed that of the six interviewees, four affirmed to know the guides of good way. The Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Literature (FIC), from 1953 to 1979, was predominantly female, and in this sense the importance and necessity of numerous copies of textbooks in the Faculty's library. It was concluded that the manuals influenced in the choice as well as in the way of action of the teachers, normalizing the relations of power and gender in the space of teacher training.

Frente a esse cenário, torna-se emergente discutir e reforçar as investigações relacionadas a história das mulheres com a finalidade de repensar as estruturas sociais, produzindo mecanismos para minimizar as disparidades sociais entre gêneros. Portanto, o interesse dessa pesquisa parte da necessidade de (re) pensar as relações de gênero a partir da formação de professoras. Ao trazer essas questões tem-se como intuito compreender o discurso que normatizou, naturalizou e determinou o lugar de homens e mulheres no espaço educacional. Isso permite rever as relações enquanto ser humano e sujeito. Nesse sentido, a pesquisa tem como objetivo geral analisar os manuais de etiqueta e civilidade e sua influência na formação de professoras: décadas de 1940 a 1970. O referencial teórico versa sobre o processo civilizatório e como se estabeleceu a invisibilidade das mulheres na historiografia, bem como a normatização e adestramento das condutas, a emancipação feminina e as contribuições do movimento feminista e, por fim, a feminização do magistério. A metodologia se caracteriza por ser de natureza qualitativa a partir do embasamento em referenciais teóricos e documentais e nas análises das narrativas. O corpus documental foi constituído de cinco manuais de etiqueta e civilidade e as narrativas foram de seis professoras egressas da Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras – FIC, no período de 1953 – 1979. As narrativas constituíram “a voz das professoras” e sua análise foi realizada por meio do método hermenêutico que permitiu relacionar as narrativas com a contextualização social e histórica e o entrelaçamento com os manuais de etiqueta e civilidade. A partir das narrativas constatou-se que das seis entrevistadas somente duas tinha como objetivo seguir a profissão docente. No que está relacionado ao contato com os manuais de etiqueta e civilidade percebeu-se que das seis entrevistadas quatro afirmaram conhecer os guias de boas maneiras. Contatou-se que a Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras – FIC, no período de 1953 a 1979, teve predominância de turmas femininas, e, nesse sentido, observou-se a importância e a necessidade de inúmeros exemplares de manuais na biblioteca da Faculdade.
