Resumo: | The rapid spread of the new coronavirus (Sars-CoV-2) challenged health systems, generating a major global public health crisis, providing large-scale contamination and a significant number of deaths. In this context, health professionals become vulnerable due to great physical and emotional exhaustion related to the management of a large volume of contaminated patients, risk of infection and lack of personal protective equipment (PPE), overloading professionals and consequently raising levels. of stress and causing a negative psychosocial overload to the mental health of these workers. The objective of this study was to evaluate the mental health of health professionals in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, and to associate it with indicators of physical activity. This cross-sectional study consisted of a sample of 101 health professionals. Professionals were invited to respond to an online survey, using a five-part structured form. Data collection took place between September and December 2021. Workers previously answered a sociodemographic questionnaire, followed by the General Anxiety Disorder Questionnaire (GAD-7), the Patient's Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ-short version). Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS software (version 25.0) and the results were presented descriptively, mean (SD), frequencies and percentages. Analyzes were considered significant when p<0.05.The overall prevalence of depressive symptoms was 75.3% and anxiety in 71.3% of the sample, in addition to 65.3% of professionals experiencing moderate level stress during the Covid-19 pandemic. Of the participants, 76.2% reported practicing physical activity (PA) regularly and 56.4% were active subjects. Individuals who used medication during the pandemic had a higher measure of stress (p=0.038), as well as those who had social support identified as indifferent (p=0.004). Workers who practiced PA had a lower level of stress (p=0.001), as well as subjects with a higher level of physical activity (active) (p=0.026). 86.2% of individuals without anxiety and 96% of individuals without depression perform PA, while 83.3% of professionals with severe anxiety and 88.9% of subjects with severe depressive disorder do not perform PA. The results of this research were conducted in a period of high psychological pressure during the pandemic, in such a way that a high prevalence of symptoms of anxiety and depression was found among health professionals, as well as a high proportion of the sample experienced levels of stress. moderate to high. The regular practice of PA was associated with the degree of anxiety and depressive disorder and with the measure of self-perceived stress, in addition to the fact that workers with a better physical condition (active) presented a lower level of stress when compared to their sedentary peers, supporting the role protector of PA against mental disorders and in the management of the stress of these professionals. |

Submitted by Clarice Rosa Machado (clarice.machado@ufn.edu.br) on 2022-08-30T13:38:56Z No. of bitstreams: 3 Dissertacao_JoanaCarolinaBernhard_VersaoParcial.pdf: 712242 bytes, checksum: ae5c7310c62d9285e12601c4300b8515 (MD5) Dissertacao_JoanaCarolinaBernhard_SemAssinaturas.pdf: 3066132 bytes, checksum: 34e4456d21a80d2228527c3aee19aa12 (MD5) license_rdf: 0 bytes, checksum: d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2022-08-30T13:38:56Z (GMT).
