Summary: There are ashes, blood, oils, ritual smell. There are foreign substances and materials. Thereis a wonder. This article is built from the perspective ofthat which is still troubling: are theritual objects of African-based yards (rituals) of art? From that question, we will go through the history of the Perseverance Collection, which originated from an episode of policeforce seazure in Alagoas, in 1912. From this entanglement, we will show that the memories of the African are found in the making and in the symbols that form the resignified African aesthetic, which is still seen by many as “trinkets” of religious grounds [terreiros]

Este artigo é construído a partir da perspectiva daquilo que ainda causa incômodo: os objetos de rituais de terreiros de matriz africana são objetos de arte?. A partir desta questão, percorreremos a história da Coleção Perseverança, que se formou num episódio de apreensão policial em Alagoas em 1912.
