Still on ghosts: temporality, archive and future in Mohamed Mbougar Sarr’s novel

Resumo: The paper analyzes the novel La plus secrète mémoire des hommes focusing on the relationship between the figuration of time and historical experience. The novel refuses analytical and normative categories as universal subjects and historical representation through a hybrid book emphasizing historical research and archives. The article also intends to highlight that postcolonial, or decolonial, criticism manifests itself in a constative rather than a performative way, limiting the effectiveness of treating sensitive themes beyond the conceptual architecture of traumatic studies. The efficacy of novels allows for greater openness to questioning the limits of knowledge, especially when contemporary writers criticize racism, temporality, and coloniality of power.

O ensaio refuta categorias analíticas e normativas como sujeito universal e representação histórica em um romance que se utiliza da pesquisa histórica. O artigo também pretende ressaltar que a crítica pós-colonial, ou decolonial, se manifesta de maneira constativa, e não performática, limitando a eficácia do tratamento de temas sensíveis para além da arquitetura conceitual dos estudos traumáticos.
