Attitudes about Mathematics: perceptions of Pedagogy students about professional choice and teaching-learning

Resumo: This research aimed to investigate the perception of Pedagogy students at a public university about the influences of attitudes on professional choice, teaching and learning Mathematics. The theoretical approach was anchored in studies in the Psychology of Mathematics Education and the methodological approach had a mixed design. The study consisted of two stages: in the first stage, an attitude scale and a questionnaire were applied to 45 Pedagogy students and, in the second, two questionnaires were selected for more detailed analysis. Data analysis showed that the scores on the attitude scale were only related to the professional choice category. The study suggests that Pedagogy courses value the influences of affective aspects on the teaching and learning of Mathematics.

El enfoque teórico estuvo anclado en estudios de Psicología de la Educación Matemática y el enfoque metodológico tuvo un diseño mixto. El estudio constó de dos etapas: en la primera se aplicó una escala de actitudes y un cuestionario a 45 estudiantes de Pedagogía y, en la segunda, se seleccionaron dos cuestionarios para un análisis más detallado. El análisis de los datos mostró que las puntuaciones en la escala de actitud sólo estaban relacionadas con la categoría de elección profesional. El estudio sugiere que las carreras de Pedagogía valoran las influencias de los aspectos afectivos en la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de las Matemáticas.Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo investigar a percepção de estudantes de Pedagogia de uma universidade pública sobre as influências das atitudes sobre a escolha profissional, o ensino e a aprendizagem da Matemática. A abordagem teórica foi ancorada nos estudos da Psicologia da Educação Matemática e a metodológica teve um delineamento misto. O estudo constou de duas etapas: na primeira etapa foi aplicada uma escala de atitudes e um questionário a 45 estudantes de Pedagogia e, na segunda, dois questionários foram selecionados para análise mais detalhada. A análise dos dados mostrou que os scores da escala de atitudes tiveram relação somente com a categoria de escolha profissional.
