The historical process of disciplinarization of infinitesimal calculus in Brazil

Resumo: | The discipline of Calculus has undergone several changes over the years, however, some of its characteristics have a long-standing record, such as the tension between rigor and intuition and the dichotomy in the teaching aimed at mathematicians and engineers. In order to describe the process of disciplinarization of Infinitesimal Calculus in Brazil throughout the twentieth century, a historical survey was carried out on the organization of mathematics teaching in important institutions in the country, highlighting the main educational reforms. The methodology adopted was textual and contextual analysis, applied to a series of textbooks that composed this process. The teaching spheres remained as secondary schools, technical schools and higher education. The research also allows establishing relations with the effects of the International Reform Movement in Brazil. |

Para describir el proceso de disciplinamento del Cálculo en Brasil a lo largo del siglo XX, se realizó un levantamento histórico sobre la organización de la enseñanza de las matemáticas en importantes instituciones del país, destacando las principales reformas educativas. La metodología adoptada fue el análisis textual y contextual, aplicado a una serie de libros de texto que compusieron este proceso. Las esferas de enseñanza analizadas fueron las escuelas secundarias, las escuelas técnicas y la educación superior. La investigación también permite establecer relaciones con los efectos del Movimiento Internacional de Reforma en Brasil.A disciplina de Cálculo sofreu diversas mudanças ao longo dos anos, entretanto, algumas de suas características possuem registro de longa data, tais como os tensionamentos entre rigor e intuição e a dicotomia no ensino voltado para matemáticos e engenheiros. Com intuito de descrever o processo de disciplinarização do Cálculo no Brasil ao longo do século XX, foi realizado um levantamento histórico sobre a organização do ensino de matemática em importantes instituições do país, destacando as principais reformas educacionais. A metodologia adotada foi a análise textual e contextual, aplicada a uma série de livros-textos que compuseram esse processo. As esferas de ensino analisadas foram as escolas secundárias, escolas técnicas e o ensino superior.
