Digital Information and Communication Technology has played an increasingly relevant role in contemporary society, impacting several sectors, including education. Given this, the present study aims to map, in the educational literature, challenges and possibilities for the use of Digital Information and Communication Technology in pedagogical practices. This is a literature review, which was obtained as a search source filtered in databases. This review was divided into four theoretical lines: The Digital Information and Communication Technology; The integration of Digital Information and Communication Technology to the pedagogical practice; The challenges and possibilities that the incorporation of Digital Information and Communication Technology in education presents; The main impacts on the teaching and learning processes. The literature found indicates that the incorporation of Digital Information and Communication Technology in education presents challenges ranging from resistance to change to infrastructure issues. However, the possibilities and advantages that Digital Information and Communication Technology brings are significant, offering more active, personalized and creative learning opportunities.
