Resumo: Physics teaching has the biggest challenge to keep up with technological advances in recent decades. Modern Physics, fundamental for several areas of society and the development of such technologies, is little or almost never explored in basic education, according to some reports in the literature. This article brings the results of a research, where a Didactic Sequence (DS) was applied for the teaching of Modern Physics through photovoltaic solar energy. Applied to students in the third year of regular high school at a state school in the city of Manaus/AM. DS was based on the Three Pedagogical Moments by Delizoicov and Angotti (1990, 1992) which are summarized in initial problematization, organization of knowledge and application of knowledge. Pre-test and post-test were carried out to verify the students' learning, and the data were submitted to statistical analysis. The study showed that the methodology used favored the learning of contents, enabling involvement and interest in classes. There was an average improvement of 82% in the average success rate of participants after applying the proposal. With the results found, we concluded that through the DS, it is possible to approach the content of Modern Physics in a diversified way and related to the daily life of the students, in order to achieve a better learning.
