THEORETICAL ASPECTS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF SCHOOL MANAGEMENT CONCEPTUALIZATIONS AND MODELS

Resumo: In recent decades, school leadership has become central in research, studies and reports of different national and international organizations, in recent reforms of educational systems and in small-scale transformation processes. The specialized bibliography on school leadership and school principals is abundant and varied. The terms school leadership, leadership, school management, pedagogical leadership and management are often used interchangeably and in some cases as synonyms. The purpose of this paper is to make explicit and distinguish the conceptions and logics that underlie each of the terms, following different theoretical productions. The starting point is the characterization of the typology constructed by Antonio Viñao Frago (2001). The author defines school management as a hybrid model, the result of the juxtaposition of four models that have accumulated historically. This article is the result of a doctoral research, the objective of which was to analyze school management in the day-to-day life of educational institutions. A qualitative case study (Stake, 2010) with an ethnographic approach, focused on the daily expression of the managerial function, was chosen as a research strategy (Stake, 2010).

La bibliografía especializada acerca de la dirección y del director escolar es abundante y muy variada. Las expresiones dirección, conducción, gestión escolar, liderazgo pedagógico y gestión directiva son utilizadas en numerosas ocasiones indistintamente y en algunos casos como sinónimos. El propósito de esta comunicación es explicitar y distinguir las concepciones y lógicas que subyacen en cada uno de los términos, siguiendo diversas producciones teóricas. El punto de partida es la caracterización de la tipología construida por Antonio Viñao Frago (2001). El autor define a la dirección escolar como un modelo híbrido, resultado de la yuxtaposición de cuatro modelos que se han acumulado históricamente. El presente artículo se desprende de una investigación doctoral, cuyo objetivo fue analizar la dirección escolar en el día a día de las instituciones educativas. Como estrategia de investigación se optó por la realización de un estudio de casos (Stake, 2010) de corte cualitativo con enfoque etnográfico, centrado en la expresión cotidiana de la función directiva.Nas últimas décadas, a liderança escolar tornou-se central em pesquisas, estudos e relatórios de diferentes organizações nacionais e internacionais, em reformas recentes dos sistemas educacionais e em processos de transformação em pequena escala. A literatura especializada sobre liderança escolar é abundante e variada. Os termos liderança escolar, gestão escolar, e liderança pedagógica são frequentemente utilizados de forma intercambiável e, em alguns casos, como sinônimos. O objetivo deste trabalho é explicitar e distinguir as concepções e lógicas subjacentes a cada um dos termos, seguindo diferentes produções teóricas. O ponto de partida é a caracterização da tipologia construída por Antonio Viñao Frago (2001). O autor define a gestão escolar como um modelo híbrido, o resultado da justaposição de quatro modelos que se acumularam historicamente. Este artigo é o resultado de uma pesquisa de doutorado, cujo objetivo era analisar a liderança escolar no dia-a-dia das instituições de ensino.
