GENDER AND SEXUALITY IN EDUCATION: an experience with PARFOR academics in a municipality in Pará

Resumo: The article aims to understand the conception and approach of gender and sexuality in education, from the perspective of students of the Teacher Training Program/PARFOR, based on an experience in the municipality of Igarapé Miri in Pará. The stimulus to carry out this study is due to the pioneering spirit of including this theme as a Curriculum Component in the Pedagogy Course at UEPA. As theoretical support, authors were used, such as: Foucault (1988), Louro (2007, 2011), Scott (1995), Bassalo (2010), César (2009), Barroso e Silva (2021) etcetera. The methodological procedure consists of a qualitative approach, using the semi-structured questionnaire as an instrument. The research was conducted with 29 academic people. The collected data indicate that the reflection on gender and sexuality in education constitutes a challenge, because nowadays the topic has been a result of political and religious dispute, restricting free thinking and the formation of critical and reflective citizens. Furthermore, the study points out the need for training of educators and carrying out pedagogical activities addressing the topic, since only six academics stated that the school promotes debate. The research also shows a certain lack of knowledge of the concepts on the part of the interlocutors, although is unanimous the relevance of the theme for the construction of a space for debate and propagation of scientific knowledge and research, to problematize and deconstruct social and religious taboos.

El estímulo para realizar este estudio se debe al espíritu pionero de incluir este tema como un Componente Curricular en el Curso de Pedagogía de la UEPA. Como aporte teórico se ha utilizado autoras (es), como: Foucault (1988), Louro (2007, 2011), Scott (1995), Bassalo (2010), César (2009), Barroso y Silva (2021) entre otros. El procedimiento metodológico consiste en un abordaje cualitativo, lo cual tiene como instrumento el cuestionario semiestructurado. La investigación ha sido realizada con 29 estudiantes. Los datos colectados indican que la reflexión sobre género y sexualidad en la educación constituye un desafío, una vez que, en la contemporaneidad, el tema ha sido fruto de disputas políticas y religiosas, retirando el libre pensar y la formación de ciudadanos críticos y reflexivos. El estudio indica también la necesidad de formación de las (os) educadoras(es) y la realización de actividades pedagógicas abordando ese tema, ya que apenas seis estudiantes afirmaron que la escuela promueve el debate.  La investigación también muestra cierto desconocimiento de los conceptos por parte de las (os) interlocutoras (es), aunque sea unánime la relevancia del tema para la construcción de un espacio de debate y propagación de conocimientos científicos e investigaciones, de modo a problematizar y deconstruir tabús sociales y religiosos.O artigo objetiva compreender a concepção e a abordagem de gênero e sexualidade na educação, na perspectiva de discentes do Programa de Formação de Professores/PARFOR, a partir de uma experiência no município paraense de Igarapé Miri. O estímulo em realizar esse estudo deve-se ao pioneirismo de incluir essa temática como Componente Curricular no Curso de Pedagogia da UEPA. Como aporte teórico, o estudo baseia-se Foucault (1988), Louro (2007, 2011), Scott (1995), Bassalo (2010), César (2009), Barroso e Silva (2021), entre outros. O procedimento metodológico consiste numa abordagem qualitativa, tendo como instrumento o questionário semiestruturado. A pesquisa foi realizada com 29 acadêmicas(os). Os dados coletados sinalizam que a reflexão sobre gênero e sexualidade na educação constitui um desafio, pois na contemporaneidade o tema tem sido fruto de disputa política e religiosa, cerceando o livre pensar e a formação de cidadãos críticos e reflexivos.
