Assim, são muitos os pontos a serem analisados quando o assunto é agricultura sustentável. Realizou-se uma pesquisa na zona rural de Ouro Preto, MG, com o objetivo de conhecer como se dá a produção agrícola do município, as condições de vida do trabalhador rural, o potencial dos produtores e quais são as possibilidades de comercialização da produção. Buscou-se identificar pontos que dificultam a participação do produtor no mercado institucional da merenda escolar e manutençao do agricultor no campo, com qualidade de vida e futuro garantidos. Nas Escolas Estaduais de Ensino buscou-se conhecer como se dá a compra de gêneros da agricultura familiar através do Programa Nacional de Alimentação Escolar – PNAE; a demanda por esses gêneros e a aceitação pela comunidade escolar no consumo desses alimentos. A coleta de dados foi feita através de entrevistas semi-estruturadas, acompanhada de questionário estruturado. Os dados obtidos com as entrevistas mostra que a demanda é bem maior do que a oferta de gêneros. Conclui-se que é necessário tratar a agricultura familiar como empreendimento economicamente viável. Assegurar que os programas de financiamento da agricultura familiar cheguem ao pequeno produtor; aumentar a eficiência e a eficácia das políticas públicas governamentais voltadas para o desenvolvimento agrário e apoio financeiro as atividades agropecuárias e agroindustriais. Levar os agricultores familiares a aumentar a capacidade de organização e associativismo. Necessita-se promover a integração entre a comunidade científica, os formuladores de políticas públicas e os produtores rurais, promovendo o desenvolvimento local. Por tratar-se de uma cidde histórica, patrimônio mundial da humanidade, há um estancamento do processo de urbanização da sede do município de Ouro Preto (MG) fator motivador para se criar condições de subsistência da população em seus respectivos distritos.National security depends on a sound and sustainable agriculture (LUTZENBERGER, 2001). Thus, there are many points to be considered when it comes to sustainable agriculture. In the present study we carried out a survey in rural Ouro Preto, MG in order to know how is the agricultural production of the county, the living conditions of rural workers, potential producers and what are the opportunities for marketing production; identify. Identify points that hinder participation by the producer in the institutional market school lunch; map and identify activities that guarantee income with maintenance conditions of the farmer in the field, quality of life and secured future. In State Schools of Education aimed to investigate how is the purchase of genres from family farmers through the National School Feeding Programme - PNAE; the demand for these genres and acceptance by the school community in these foods. Data collection was done through semi-structured interviews followed a structured questionnaire. The data obtained from the interviews show that demand is far greater than the supply of genres. We conclude that it is necessary to. Treat as family farming economically viable enterprise; ensure that the funding programs of family farming reach the small farmer; increase the efficiency and effectiveness of government policies, focused on agricultural development and financial support to agricultural and agroindustrial activities. Lead farmers to increase organizational capacity and partnerships. It is necessary to promote integration between the scientific community, policy makers and farmers, leading to local development.
