Resumo: This study addresses the participation of popular culture at festivals and events in the city of Joao Pessoa in 2010, as FENART, the party of the Snows and St. John From the field research was possible to see how these groups fit cultural programming in the city. The different treatment to see possible ambiguities in the enhancement of culture. The three events were to include different forms of popular culture. In FENART there was an unequal treatment and disrespectful to the popular groups, in view of the size of the event. Longed to meet a certain type of audience. The St. John separated the stage, and put the different times, and has given greater visibility to the gangs. On the Feast of the Snow was a change that improved the participation of popular culture, the festival focused on a single space and switching times. The survey is conducted from the speech of teachers.

The survey is conducted from the speech of teachers.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESO presente trabalho pretende abordar a participação da cultura popular nas festas e eventos na cidade de João Pessoa no ano de 2010, como o FENART, a Festa das Neves e o São João. A partir da pesquisa de campo foi possível visualizar como esses grupos se encaixam na programação cultural da cidade. O tratamento diferenciado possibilitou enxergar ambiguidades na valorização da cultura. Os três eventos apresentaram formas diferentes de incluir a cultura popular. No FENART houve um tratamento desigual e desrespeitoso com os grupos populares, tendo em vista a dimensão do evento. Almejou-se atender um determinado tipo de público. O São João separou os palcos, e colocou os horários diferentes, além de ter dado maior visibilidade às quadrilhas. Na Festa das Neves houve uma mudança que melhorou a participação da cultura popular, centralizou a festa em um único espaço e alternando os horários.
