Resumo: This article presents a study about the ambiguities in the representation of gender of transformist Ivaná; actor Ivan Monteiro Damião’s creation in the 1950’s, in the vaudeville at Walter Pinto’s Company. Since contextual discussion of a "LGBT scene" from the period, a representation of Ivaná - on Manchete magazine is analyzed on this text as an important document about a queer subject very known at that moment. The transformist - was on the cover September 1953 edition’s magazine -, containing a full article about her in which the gender ambiguity was its central focus. Also takes part on the documentary corpus of this research news and commentaries on the play É Fogo na Jaca, the show that Ivaná made your debut in the brazilian artistic milieu. Este artigo apresenta um estudo sobre as ambiguidades na representação de gênero da transformista Ivaná; criação do ator Ivan Monteiro Damião nos anos 50, no teatro de revista da Companhia de Walter Pinto. A partir da discussão contextual de uma “cena LGBT” do período, a representação de Ivaná na revista Manchete é analisada no texto enquanto importante documento sobre um/a sujeito/a queer com notoriedade naquele momento. A transformista estampou a capa de uma das edições de setembro de 1953 da revista, contendo uma matéria completa sobre ela e que tem na ambiguidade de gênero o foco central do texto.
