A imagem social e a autoimagem do Serviço Social em um Hospital-Escola

This research aimed to analyze the social image and the self image of the Social Service profession, in a way to clarify the agreements and disagreements between both, taking as parameter the Professional Ethical-Political Project (PEPP). The materialism historical-dialectical constituted the research method, for allowing to glimpse the dynamic movement of reality and the dialectical relations between endogenous and exogenous of the Social Service, through mediations. This is a field research, qualitative, done between June and December of 2018, and such sample was composed of 20 professionals of the multi-task health team and 10 social assistants from University Hospital Lauro Wanderley (HULW), with the application of 2 types of questionnaires, deemed to each group. The study traces the Professional profile of both groups, examines their perception, the importance, the main demands and assignments of the Social Service, beneath the endogenous and exogenous of the job. Thinking about the conservatism influx and the search of your deconstruction, starting by the influence of the PEPP over the Professional prosecution. As results, it is verified some discrepancy between the social image and the self image of the profession, because, even though all interviewed of the multitasked team recognize the relevance of their job in the team, and 75% has declared that the Social Service interferes positively in the work’s routine, there was prevalence of a conservatism vision of the profession, 60% associated it to “help” and “support”, to bureaucratization (45%) and the maintenance of the institutional routine to the answer immediate demands (40%); while, even though the second recognizes its interference with opposition to conservatism about its exercise (100%), everyone expressed denial to conservative conduct and linked that exercise to the democratic perspective of rights extension, congruent to PEPP, in defense to the worker’s class which affects the healthcare service as universal social right, even though 80% has recognized that these rights are partially effective. Therefore, considered that the PEPP influences, being concatenate with the search, the orientation and attempt to let the rights feasible. At last, it is pointed out the challenges to demystify the immediate “help” vision of the profession to the sequels of the “social question” in healthcare, proposing a magnification of the plural debate with the team and hospital management; a horizontal hospital structure that decentralizes the decisional process to the professionals and users; the category gains strength by professional improving that promotes the correlation of the critical theory with the practical; discriminating, the inaccurate under the Professional exercise and all difficulties to effect the PEPP.
