Permanência na educação superior: análise da política de assistência estudantil do Instituto Federal da Paraíba

Resumo: | Our interest in investigating the Student Assistance Policy (PAE) of the Federal Institute (IFPB) led us to identify the recurrence of studies on the topic at this institution, totaling nine (09) dissertations defended in the period from 2016 to 2020. This finding instigated us carrying out this study with the aim of analyzing how this research, carried out within the scope of professional master's degrees, can contribute to tackling the problem referred to institutionally. The bibliographical research was carried out through a literature review, using authors such as Abreu (2012) as theoretical support; Castelo Branco, Jezine and Nakamura (2013; 2015), in addition to the researched dissertations themselves. The study, of an applied nature, descriptive, exploratory and with a qualitative approach, was developed with the participation of six (06) of the nine (09) authors of the dissertations discussed, as well as social workers who work on the campuses where they were carried out. such as research. The research procedures involved the application of a semi-structured questionnaire with the authors, in addition to interviews with social workers. After collection, the data was treated from the content analysis perspective of Bardin (2016), using access, retention and academic success as theoretical categories. Our results indicate that social workers still do not have knowledge about this research, nor about the tips and advances presented in them. Furthermore, the authors participating in the research pointed out that their studies, despite the time that had passed, brought contributions to the improvement of IFPB's student assistance policy, while indicating needs and possibilities for new studies. In view of these results, as a product of our work, we present the proposal for a university course for IFPB employees involved with student assistance, taking as a reference the article originating from this research, on the contributions of professional programs to IFPB's PAE, entitled “ Student assistance at IFPB: what do professional master's dissertations say about this topic?”, and it is suggested that the researchers themselves be invited to participate by presenting their studies |

Tal constatação nos instigou a realizar este estudo com o objetivo de analisar como essas pesquisas, desenvolvidas no âmbito dos mestrados profissionais, podem contribuir para o enfretamento da referida problemática institucionalmente. A pesquisa bibliográfica se deu por meio da revisão de literatura, tendo como apoio teórico autores como Abreu (2012); Castelo Branco, Jezine e Nakamura (2013; 2015), além das próprias dissertações pesquisadas. O estudo, de natureza aplicada, de caráter descritivo, exploratório e com enfoque qualitativo, foi desenvolvido com a participação de seis (06), dos nove (09) autores das dissertações discutidas, bem como os assistentes sociais que atuam em Campi onde foram realizadas as pesquisas. Os procedimentos de pesquisa envolveram a aplicação de questionário semiestruturado com os autores, além da realização de entrevista com as assistentes sociais. Após a coleta, os dados foram tratados a partir da perspectiva de análise de conteúdo de Bardin (2016), utilizando como categorias teóricas acesso, permanência e sucesso acadêmico. Os nossos resultados apontam que as assistentes sociais ainda não têm conhecimento sobre essas pesquisas, tampouco acerca das conclusões e avanços nelas apresentados. Outrossim, os autores participantes da pesquisa apontaram que seus estudos, apesar do tempo decorrido, trazem contribuições para a melhoria da política de assistência estudantil do IFPB, ao passo em que indicam necessidade e possibilidades de novos estudos.
