Resumo: | This study aimed to analyze the professional practice of social workers in mental health services located in the city of João Pessoa / PB, in order to reveal the occurrence of syncretism. The research is characterized as a qualitativequantitative, exploratory-type and field-based study associated with a bibliographic analysis. The research was carried out in 06 (six) mental health services located in the city of João Pessoa: Juliano Moreira Psychiatric Complex, Mental Health Care Attendance (PASM), Center for Psychosocial Child and Adolescent Cirandar, Center for Psychosocial Alcohol and Drug Attention David Capistrano, Psychosocial Care Center III Gutemberg Botelho, Center for Psychosocial Care Walk, from October 2017 to February 2018. Sixteen (16) social service professionals of the mentioned services were interviewed. professional practice of social workers in mental health services. The research used was of the explanatory type, since it occupied with the reason of the phenomena observed and, according to its data sources, it is also characterized as a field research. The primary data were organized in two dimensions: qualitative data analyzed based on content analysis by categorization; and the quantitative data were organized from graphs and charts. The debate about the professional exercise is recurring within the professional category, also recurring the inflections suffered and the trends assumed in the professional exercise. Thus, it was inquired whether professional practice in the field of mental health reveals the occurrence of syncretism, according to studies by Netto (2005) and Maranhão (2016). The result of the research brought the presence of three tendencies in the professional exercise: the clinical, the instrumental and the critic, it is understood that they express a certain syncretic movement in the work of the social workers in mental health, alternating in such a way that the the same professional takes on characteristic elements of each of these tendencies at different moments of the professional daily life. Therefore, it was concluded that the syncretic character of the profession as a result of many factors: professional identity, lack of continuous training, restriction of the conditions of social policies, hegemony of psi knowledge; lack of qualification of the social, neoliberal offensive and the very argument of the syncretism in the profession. |

A pesquisa caracteriza-se como um estudo de abordagem quali-quantitiva, de tipo exploratório e de campo associado a uma análise bibliográfica. A pesquisa foi realizada em 06 (seis) serviços de saúde mental localizados no município de João Pessoa: Complexo Psiquiátrico Juliano Moreira, Pronto Atendimento em Saúde Mental (PASM), Centro de Atenção Psicossocial Infanto-Juvenil Cirandar, Centro de Atenção Psicossocial Álcool e Drogas David Capistrano, Centro Atenção Psicossocial III Gutemberg Botelho e o Centro de Atenção Psicossocial Caminhar, no período de outubro de 2017 a fevereiro de 2018. Foram entrevistados 16 (dezesseis) profissionais do Serviço Social dos referidos serviços em seu exercício profissional de assistentes sociais nos serviços de saúde mental. A pesquisa utilizada foi de tipo explicativa, já que se ocupou com o porquê dos fenômenos observados e, segundo as suas fontes de dados, se caracteriza também como uma pesquisa de campo. Os dados primários foram organizados em duas dimensões: dados qualitativos, analisados com base na análise de conteúdo por categorização; e, os dados quantitativos, foram organizados a partir de gráficos e quadros. O debate sobre o exercício profissional é recorrente no interior da categoria profissional, sendo também recorrentes as inflexões sofridas e as tendências assumidas no exercício profissional. Desse modo, indagou-se se o exercício profissional no campo da saúde mental revela a ocorrência do sincretismo, conforme estudos de Netto (2005) e Maranhão (2016). O resultado da pesquisa trouxe a presença de três tendências no exercício profissional: a clínica, a instrumental e a crítica. Entende-se que elas expressam um determinado movimento sincrético na atuação dos assistentes sociais na saúde mental, alternando-se de tal forma que o mesmo profissional assume em momentos distintos do cotidiano profissional elementos característicos de cada uma dessas tendências.
