Robeyoncé Group: reconstructing gender at UFPE’s Law School of Recife

Resumo: This paper discusses the experience of the Robeyoncé Group, formed in 2016 at the Law School of Recife/Federal University of Pernambuco (FDR/UFPE). The group experienced three different phases, and in all of them it has tried to find new paths to combine queer and decolonial studies with the advocacy of women’s and LGBTQI+ people’s rights, particularly in cases related to women’s incarceration and transvestites’s and transgender’s change of name and gender. By telling our history we intend to stimulate a discussion about possibilities and challenges for a more critical, engaged and gender sensitive education in law.

O grupo passou por três fases distintas e, em todas elas, buscou encontrar caminhos para aliarestudos queer e decoloniais à defesa dos direitos das mulheres e da população LGBTQI+, particularmente em questões ligadas ao encarceramento feminino e retificação de prenome e gênero de travestis e transexuais.
