Resumo: Earthwork sites in the Amazon region are known by far for colonial explorers, travellers, archaeologists and other researchers. In the last decade, an especial kind of site – which has been called “geoglyphs” in Brazil – has been target of a growing number of researches and has aroused the interest of public in general. This paper brings the general traits of these structures, followed by the historic of researches with this theme to, at last, present some of the views that are in use now and which can be used in future works.

Abstract: Earthwork sites in the Amazon region are known by far for colonial explorers, travelers, archaeologists and other researchers.
