Resumo: The present study intends to, initially, introduce the Rio Grande do Sul State Work Office archive as a source of work-themed research, more specifically, as a tool for future research aimed at finding Black workers. Quantitative data on these workers, in a general comparative framework between skin color denominations, will be presented. We also intend to discuss this hand labor acting in the twentieth century, between 1933 and 1944, aiming to find the performance of these workers in the city of Pelotas in local industries, highlighting aspects such as the professions and functions performed by these employees. Finally, we will highlight general features that can assist in the understanding of these workers’ profile.

Serão apresentados dados quantitativos sobre estes trabalhadores como um quadro geral comparativo entre as denominações de cor da pele. Abordaremos essa mão-de-obra atuante no século XX entre os anos de 1933 a 1944, visando localizar a atuação desses operários na cidade Pelotas nas indústrias locais. Destacando aspectos como as profissões e funções desempenhadas por estes profissionais.
