Resumo: The present work addressed the actions of the organs of protection of archaeological heritage, through bibliographic research, with the purpose of presenting the current scenario referring to the legal support of archaeological sites of rock records in the State of Pernambuco. In the course of the research there were several damages to the archaeological heritage (graffiti and other types of depredation). Only two cases were identified within the state, established in the years 2009 to 2012, related to the archaeological sites Pedra Furada, located in the municipality of Venturosa - PE and Pedra da Concha, located in the municipality of Buíque, inside the Catimbau National Park. This small amount may be related to the reduced number of systematic inspections causing, in many cases, the lack of knowledge of the public power, at the municipal, state and federal levels, about the anthropic actions carried out in archaeological sites with rock records in the state of Pernambuco leading, in many cases, their depredation.

No decorrer da pesquisa verificaram-se diversos danos ao patrimônio arqueológico (pichações e outros tipos de depredação). Foram identificados no âmbito do estado apenas dois processos, instaurados nos anos de 2009 a 2012, relacionados aos sítios arqueológicos Pedra Furada, localizado no município de Venturosa – PE e Pedra da Concha, situado no município de Buíque, no interior do Parque Nacional do Catimbau.
