Partindo do recorte de pessoas com deficiência, 39 milhões de pessoas no mundo são cegas. Pensar em inclusão e diversidade é pensar em acessibilidade. Boa parte das pessoas cegas estão inseridas no mundo digital, porém, acessibilidade no desenvolvimento de produtos digitais ainda é um requisito secundário. Paralelamente, observa-se que os chatbots, assistentes virtuais que se comunicam com os usuários de forma automática por meio de inteligência artificial, estão cada vez mais comuns no nosso cotidiano. Observa-se também que a interação das pessoas cegas pelo smartphone acontece por meio de comandos de voz e leitores de tela. Partindo deste contexto, surgiram duas perguntas que direcionaram esta pesquisa: chatbots são acessíveis para os usuários cegos? Como esses usuários interagem com essas interfaces? Com intuito de responder a estas perguntas, o objetivo principal deste trabalho é investigar a acessibilidade dos chatbots para pessoas com deficiência visual no contexto de smartphones e gerar um conjunto de recomendações para projetar assistentes virtuais acessíveis. Para responder às perguntas e atingir os objetivos da pesquisa, foi inicialmente realizado um levantamento bibliográfico e a revisão do estado da arte. Em seguida, foram pesquisadas, identificadas e analisadas diretrizes de acessibilidade e heurísticas de usabilidade, a fim de gerar um conjunto de heurísticas que focassem em problemas tanto de usabilidade quanto de acessibilidade. O experimento da pesquisa consistiu em duas etapas: avaliação heurística de dois assistentes virtuais, utilizando o conjunto de heurísticas gerado, e testes com usuários cegos, com intuito de observar a interação dessas pessoas com os mesmos assistentes virtuais e validar os achados da avaliação heurística. Como resultados, os achados dos dois experimentos se mostraram similares e com diversas recomendações de melhoria nos assistentes virtuais. Mas, de maneira geral, os assistentes se mostraram muito úteis no cotidiano de pessoas com deficiência visual, auxiliando-os em diversas ações feitas com o smartphone. Esta pesquisa conclui com algumas recomendações e princípios que podem ser seguidos para projetar chatbots mais acessíveis.We live in a diverse world with different people and contexts. From the crosssection of people with disabilities, 39 million people worldwide are blind. To think about inclusion and diversity is to think about accessibility. Most blind people are in the digital world, but accessibility in the development of digital products is still a secondary requirement. At the same time, it is observed that chatbots, virtual assistants who communicate with users automatically through artificial intelligence, are increasingly common in our daily lives. It is also observed that blind people's interaction through the smartphone happens through voice commands and screen readers. From this context, two questions emerged that directed this research: Are chatbots accessible to blind users? How do these users interact with these interfaces? In order to answer these questions, the main objective of this paper is to investigate the accessibility of chatbots for visually impaired people in the context of smartphones and generate a set of recommendations to design accessible virtual assistants. In order to answer the questions and achieve the research objectives, a bibliographic survey and a review of the state of the art was initially performed. Then, accessibility guidelines and usability heuristics were researched, identified and analyzed, in order to generate a set of heuristics that focused on both usability and accessibility problems. The research experiment consisted of two steps: heuristic evaluation of two virtual assistants, using the set of heuristics generated, and tests with blind users, in order to observe their interaction with the same virtual assistants and validate the findings of the heuristic evaluation. As a result, the findings of both experiments were similar and with several recommendations for improvement in virtual assistants. But, in general, the assistants proved to be very useful in the daily lives of people with visual impairment, helping them in various actions with the smartphone.
