Métodos: O estudo foi desenvolvido em duas fases. A primeira fase consistiu a elaboração do Material Educativo Audiovisual (MEA) a partir da pedagogia de Paulo Freire. Nessa fase realizou-se um estudo metodológico e de desenvolvimento. Um estudo metodológico compreende um conjunto de ações de: elaboração, validação e avaliação de um instrumento e técnica de pesquisa que possa ser empregado por outros pesquisadores. A segunda fase tratou-se da realização do quasi-experimento, com delineamento pré e pós-teste com grupo controle não equivalente, por meio de uma intervenção educacional (vídeo artístico). Tendo um grupo intervenção e um controle, não ocorrendo randomização, sendo a intervenção realizada em paralelo. A amostra do Grupo Controle e Intervenção foi seletiva, por conveniência, por ser área da saúde a amostra se compôs dos indivíduos que se teve acesso durante a palestra e a intervenção, nos dias do encontro dos grupos de HiperDia nos respectivos CSC sorteados. Resultados: O Grupo Intervenção apresentou ganho de conhecimento de média de cerca de 0,8 pontos (p=0,000) em relação ao Grupo Controle 0,2 pontos (p=0,19), com intervalo de confiança de 95%. Aprimorando os resultados por meio de análise de regressão linear múltipla, obteve-se que o Grupo intervenção apresentou ganho de conhecimento final de 0,393 percentual (p=0,038) em relação ao grupo Controle. Embora ambos os grupos tenham tido ganho de conhecimento (pós teste) em relação à palestra e ao vídeo. Conclusão: o material audiovisual produzido pode ser considerado uma ferramenta didática válida capaz de promover ganho de conhecimento na educação de usuários hipertensos sobre sua doença, medicamentos, mudança de estilo de vida e uso correto e seguro de medicamentos.CAPESObjective: To evaluate the effectiveness of an artistic intervention (video), through the use of artistic technique (scenic arts and design) in the video production, as a strategy for educating drug users, compared to the usual strategy, educational lecture. Methods: The study was developed in two phases. The first phase consisted of the elaboration of the Audiovisual Educational Material (MEA) from Paulo Freire's pedagogy. At this stage a methodological and developmental study was carried out. A methodological study comprises a set of actions of: elaboration, validation and evaluation of an instrument and research technique that can be used by other researchers. The second phase was the quasiexperiment, with a pre-and post-test design with a non-equivalent control group, through an educational intervention (artistic video). Having a group intervention and a control, not occurring randomization, being the intervention realized in parallel. The sample of the Control and Intervention Group was selective, for convenience, since it was a health area, the sample was composed of the individuals who had access during the lecture and intervention, on the days of the meeting of the HiperDia groups in the respective CSC drawn. Results: The Intervention Group presented average gain of 0.8 points (p = 0.000) in relation to the Control Group 0.2 points (p = 0.19), with a 95% confidence interval. By improving the results through multiple linear regression analysis, it was obtained that the intervention group presented a final knowledge gain of 0.393 percentage (p = 0.038) in relation to the control group. Although both groups had gained knowledge (post test) in relation to the lecture and the video.
