METHODOLOGY FOR SYSTEMATIZING SCIENCE SIGNS IN LIBRAS: A LITERACY-BASED APPROACH

Resumo: Deaf education in Brazil refers to a recent chapter in the history of education, and even inclusive education. Many struggles were fought by the deaf community, until the approval of the Brazilian Sign Language - LIBRAS as an official language in 2002. An important milestone in this educational process, which went from oralism, total communication, reaching its apex with bilingualism. From then on, discussions and processes for the inclusion of deaf students at all educational levels intensified. During this trajectory, the process of inclusion and education of the deaf, caused the demand for the expansion of the Libras vocabulary, fostering important studies and research in ​​linguistics of Brazilian sign languages. In this sense, the present study aimed to contribute to the process of expanding signs in Libras in ​​Science, using the methodology of literacy practices, by a group composed of deaf students and bilingual teachers. After carrying out a survey of terms that did not have signs, the contents were presented to deaf students by a bilingual professor in ​​Sciences, following the methodology of literacy practices, and after understanding the meaning of each concept, the group collectively elaborated , the sign in Libras that best represented a given concept. At the end of the work, the group elaborated 33 signs for concepts in the Science area that still did not have established signs.

Muchas luchas fueron libradas por la comunidad sorda, hasta la aprobación de la Lengua de Signos Brasileña - LIBRAS como lengua oficial en 2002. Un hito importante en este proceso educativo, que pasó de la oralidad, la comunicación total, alcanzando su cúspide con el bilingüismo. A partir de entonces, se intensificaron las discusiones y procesos para la inclusión de los alumnos sordos en todos los niveles educativos. En el transcurso de esta trayectoria, el proceso de inclusión y educación de los sordos provocó la demanda de la ampliación del vocabulario de Libras, fomentando importantes estudios e investigaciones en el área de la lingüística de las lenguas de signos brasileñas. En ese sentido, el presente estudio tuvo como objetivo contribuir al proceso de expansión de signos en Libras en el área de Ciencias, utilizando la metodología de prácticas de alfabetización, por un grupo compuesto por estudiantes sordos y docentes bilingües. Luego de realizar un relevamiento de términos que no tenían señas, los contenidos fueron presentados a los estudiantes sordos por un profesor bilingüe del área de Ciencias, siguiendo la metodología de prácticas de lectoescritura, y luego de comprender el significado de cada concepto, el grupo elaborado colectivamente, el signo en Libras que mejor representaba un determinado concepto. Al final del trabajo, el grupo elaboró ​​33 signos para conceptos del área de Ciencias que aún no tenían signos establecidos.A educação de surdos no Brasil refere-se a um capítulo recente na história da educação, e até mesmo da educação inclusiva. Muitas lutas foram travadas pela comunidade surda, até a aprovação da Língua Brasileira de Sinais - LIBRAS como língua oficial em 2002. Marco importante nesse processo educacional, que passou do oralismo, comunicação total, atingindo seu ápice com o bilinguismo. A partir daí, intensificaram-se as discussões e os processos para a inclusão dos estudantes surdos em todos os níveis educacionais. No decorrer dessa trajetória, o processo de inclusão e educação de surdos, ocasionou a demanda pela ampliação do vocabulário da Libras, fomentando importantes estudos e pesquisas na área da linguística das línguas de sinais brasileiras. Nesse sentido, o presente estudo teve como objetivo contribuir com o processo de ampliação de sinais em Libras na área de Ciências, utilizando a metodologia das práticas de letramento, por grupo composto de estudantes surdos e professores bilíngues. Após realizar levantamento dos termos que não possuíam sinais, os conteúdos foram apresentados aos estudantes surdos por professor bilíngue da área de Ciências, seguindo a metodologia das práticas de letramento, e após o entendimento do significado de cada conceito, o grupo elaborou, de forma coletiva, o sinal em Libras que melhor representava determinado conceito.
