Resumo: This article analyzes, based on an investigation carried out in a municipalpublic school in Baixada Fluminense - Rio de Janeiro, the associations betweenschool labels and future expectations. We define label based on the perspectiveof Becker (2008), applying the theory of labeling to the educational field from theapproach of Rist (1977), and relating it to the discussion of self-fulfillingprophecies (Merton, 1968). Through in-depth interviews with three directors andnine teachers from a municipal public school, we investigated the perceptions ofschool trajectories and their expectations for the educational future of ninth-gradestudents, with the aim of understanding how the school's expectations aboutstudents can affect the actions of school agents in the school context. We foundstudent labeling processes based on extracurricular factors (family origin,socioeconomic status) and intra-school (performance, behavior) factors. Definimosetiqueta con base en la perspectiva de Becker (2008), aplicando la teoría deletiquetado al campo educativo desde el enfoque de Rist (1977), y relacionándolacon la discusión de profecías autocumplidas (Merton, 1968). A través deentrevistas en profundidad a tres directivos y nueve docentes de una escuelapública municipal, investigamos las percepciones de las trayectorias escolares ysus expectativas para el futuro educativo de los estudiantes de 9 ° grado, con elobjetivo de comprender cómo las expectativas de la escuela sobre losestudiantes pueden afectar las acciones de los agentes escolares en el contextoescolar. Encontramos procesos de etiquetado de los estudiantes basados enfactores extraescolares (origen familiar, nivel socioeconómico) e intraescolares(rendimiento, comportamiento). Para analizarlos, propusimos una categorizacióndividiéndolos en positivos, fluctuantes y negativos. El estudio concluyó que losprocesos de etiquetado están asociados a expectativas de futuro desiguales, quese configuran como profecías autocumplidas: las etiquetas positivas estánvinculadas a las expectativas de la escuela secundaria, mientras que lasetiquetas negativas están vinculadas a las bajas expectativas de la escuela.Este artigo discute, com base em uma pesquisa realizada em uma escola pública municipal na Baixada Fluminense - Rio de Janeiro, as associações entre rótulos escolares e expectativas de futuro. Definimos rótulo com base naperspectiva de Becker (2008), aplicando a teoria da rotulação ao campo educacional a partir da abordagem de Rist (1977), e conectando-a à discussão sobre profecias autorrealizadoras (Merton, 1968). Por meio de entrevistas em profundidade com três gestores e nove professores de uma escola pública municipal, investigamos as percepções sobre as trajetórias escolares e suas expectativas para o futuro educacional dos alunos do 9º ano do ensino fundamental, com o objetivo de compreender de que forma as expectativas escolares sobre os alunos podem afetar as ações dos agentes escolares nocontexto escolar. Encontramos processos de rotulação dos alunos com base em fatores extraescolares (origem familiar, nível socioeconômico) e intraescolares (desempenho, comportamento). Para analisá-los, propusemos umacategorização dividindo-os em positivos, flutuantes e negativos.
