This research is located in the field of History of Education, is based on Cultural History (CHARTIER, 2002), and maintains a dialogue with Intellectual and Intellectuals History. The objective of this work is to analyze the action of cultural mediation of Tião Carreiro and Pardinho, a duo from the sertanejo music, and how this action of social intervention based on culture allows the identification of these artists as intellectual cultural mediators based on the concept proposed by Gomes & Hansen (2016). As a methodological framework, we used the content analysis proposed by Bardin (2016) to analyze the songs of the duo, which allowed the identification of representations and elements that expressed the socio-historical context and the reality experienced by the sertanejo music audience. These representations that gave meaning to the messages of the songs made it possible for the public of this musical genre to reflect on the socioeconomic reality in which they were inserted, functioning as a form of social education by enabling and helping to build a social consciousness of the condition faced by them in a context in which the migration exodus process took place, in which the public of the sertaneja music actively participated. As a result, we understand that this action of identification and expression of reality through the transmission of representations allows the categorization of this duo as intellectual cultural mediators that made possible a practice of social education based on culture.
