Resumo: The aim was to describe and analyze the use of obstetric interventions during labor in women submitted to cesarean section, according to its indication. A cross-sectional study, with retrospective data of a probabilistic sample of 238 records of women admitted in the General Hospital of Itapecerica da Serra and submitted to cesarean section without previous indication, in 2001. The results indicated that the artificial rupture of membranes was adopted in 36.5% of the women, the oxytocin in 58.8% and electronic fetal monitoring in 61.3% of them. It was calculated the qui-square test and the prevalence ratio (PR) to the results which indicated significant statistical difference (p<0.05): artificial rupture of the membranes and cesarean section for fetal distress (PR=1.4); use of oxytocin and cesarean section for uterine dystocia PR=1.8); electronic fetal monitoring and cesarean section for fetal distress (PR=1.7) and uterine dystocia (PR=1.0). The conclusions were that the prevalence of obstetric interventions indicates its judicious use, considering that the analyzed interventions are according to the cesarean section indications.

Universidade Federal do Paraná2007-12-19info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://revistas.ufpr.br/cogitare/article/view/1002310.5380/ce.v12i3.10023Cogitare Enfermagem; v. 12, n. 3 (2007)Cogitare Enfermagem; v. 12, n. 3 (2007)Cogitare Enfermagem; v. 12, n. 3 (2007)2176-91331414-853610.5380/ce.v12i3reponame:Cogitare Enfermagem (Online)instname:Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR)instacron:UFPRporhttps://revistas.ufpr.br/cogitare/article/view/10023/6884Fogaça, Vanessa DiasSchneck, Camilla AlexsandraRiesco, Maria Luiza Gonzalezinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2016-05-13T14:26:57Zoai:revistas.ufpr.br:article/10023Revistahttps://revistas.ufpr.br/cogitare/indexPUBhttps://revistas.ufpr.br/cogitare/oaicogitare@ufpr.br2176-91331414-8536opendoar:2016-05-13T14:26:57Cogitare Enfermagem (Online) - Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR)false
